Have you ever researched a product and made a decision based on the bottom-line price?
Have you ever then found out that there were hidden or unknown fees?
Wes Shaffer with the Sales Whisperer recently shared this story that made me think about this:
“Why do shipping companies and hotels and most businesses try to nickel and dime you with hidden charges? Ask a simple question like "Is material handling included with the booth or is it extra?" They reply with "We can receive materials 30 days prior and store for 30 days after the event at no extra charge." What that means is there is a charge but its not EXTRA if you ship it before 30 days but it's NOT part of the booth fee.
Then the hotel says the internet for the meeting is part of a "banquet" service but we didn't order food or use their internet and they "activated it" for 12 users but we brought our own hotspots to avoid the THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR fee! But they still want to bill me.
I'll let you know how this works out but what a pain. And this is from a hotel chain I've been loyal to for 14 years and it was at a flagship property.
Don't nickel and dime your clients. Tell them what you charge and let them make an informed decision. Help them see why those charges are reasonable and the benefit of them ordering from you.”
I had similar instances and it made me upset with the salesperson, the product or service and the Company, plus I felt misled. That is why we try very hard to estimate tax, fees and usage when comparing internet and telephone services, because end result is they will be there no matter who you have as a provider. We try very hard to provide a bottom dollar price for equipment and services that include tax, a UPS or other much needed peripherals, follow up visits, training, etc. We want TVC to be known as the most cost effective; not the cheapest!
Although this mindset has lost us some deals I would rather that you feel upset or taken by the competition and remember us as the ones that told it like it ended up being. If you feel this way or feel you are paying too much regarding your office technology solutions, we are here to help.
