Foreign & Domestic Attacks

Updated: Feb 28, 2022

We are all continually under cyber attack from foreign and domestic sources.

It is best practice to keep your firewall firmware up to date. Never open winbox, SSH, telnet, or web admin access to the internet, to keep outside access restricted. Always keep it locked down to specific, known and trusted, source IP addresses.

Typically, routers/firewalls supplied by internet service providers (ISP's) are designed for small office home office (SOHO) users and could lack certain protections needed for business or enterprise customers.

Locally, hackers can use WiFi to access your network with a rogue WAP, evil twin, or other piece of hardware/software.

Be sure to have well known, current anti-virus and anti-malware on your computers. Remind your employees to pay attention to the from field in an email and/or check where a link goes before clicking, but it is best practice to not click on emails or links from unknown sources.

Please reach out to your router provider to confirm your router and WiFi are secure. This is a complimentary service to our partner plan customers using a TVC supplied router.
